December 7th, 1941 is one of the most tragic days in US history.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt, was president at the time and called it
"A day that will live in infamy". During WWII when the US just
wanted to give up, the motivational slogan was " Remember Pearl Harbor".

Sad fact : 2,402 Americans were killed in the bombings and 1,282 were wounded.
The First Wave
It was 7:55, Sunday, December 7th, 1941 when it all started.
The Japanese chose Sunday to attack because they thought
americans would not be very alert and it was a
resting day. The japenese had a code word "Tora, Tora, Tora"
that meant "Tiger, Tiger, Tiger". It told the japenese they had caught us
by surprise. That message was sent by Commander Isoroku Yamamoto,
he was commander of the air raid. The US was not at all
prepared for this surprise attack on Pearl Harbor,
they got the message out by saying " AIR RAID ON PEARL HARBOR X
THIS IS NOT A DRILL"

Second wave
After the first wave was over the US thought it was
all over, Well they were very wrong. The Japanese
came in two waves, approximately 45 minutes apart.
So that did give the americans enough time to think
that is was over. So it was a surprise attack, AGAIN.
So after the second wave was over, the US thought it WASN'T
over when it really was.
